Monday 9th:  Arrival day / Orientation, 7pm Monday evening
Tuesday 10th through Monday 16th, Instructor Development Course (IDC),
Wednesday 17th & Thursday 18th, PADI Instructor Examination (IE)
Friday 16th, Departure day

Additional days before and after the IDC may be added for a fee.
All of the IDC eLearning must be complete prior to arrival.

10 nights accommodations at Compass Point Dive Resort, sharing a two bedroom
condo with one other person = US$899.00 including 13% Tax, ppdo.   Other

• During the PADI Instructor Development program, you’ll learn the PADI System of diver education, standards and procedures, effective academic teaching presentations, teaching in confined water, conducting open water training dives and additional related topics. There are two distinct components to the IDC process - the Assistant Instructor (AI) course and the Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) course. To become a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor, you must successfully complete an IE (Instructor Examination).
• You will be evaluated on; dive theory, academic teaching, confined-water (pool) teaching, open-water teaching and general diving skills and professionalism.
• As a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor you can conduct the entire range of PADI experience programs and PADI diver programs, from Open Water Diver through Divemaster (except for specialties and PADI Emergency First Response) which require specific Specialty Diver Instructor and Emergency First Response Instructor ratings).
• After successfully completing your PADI IDC and IE, you receive a certification card and certificate denoting this rating. You’ll also become a member of PADI and receive the PADI benefits.

• WHAT ARE THE STEPS TO OUR IDC PROCESS?

The IDC is conducted over a 10 day period and during this time your study and training will cover the Assistant Instructor course the open water scuba instructor (OWSI) course and the Emergency First Response course You should then be ready to sit your IE. To become a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor, you must successfully complete an IE (Instructor Examination).

• WHAT IS AN IE AND WHEN AND WHERE IS IT HELD?

An IE is a two-day program conducted by PADI Instructor Examiners. You will be asked to demonstrate your teaching abilities, rescue abilities and understanding of the PADI System and dive theory. It is pass-fail.

• WHAT IS A TYPICAL DAY?

A typical day will be divided between academic presentations, confined and open water sessions, skills development, and rescue practice.

• WHAT ARE THE PREREQUISITES FOR THE IDC AND AI COURSE?

Be certified as a PADI Divemaster or hold a leadership level certification with another recreational diver training organization, leadership level with another organization can be:

1. BSAC (Club instructor or higher), 
2. CMAS (two or three star), 
3. FAUI, 
4. IDEA, 
5. LA County, 
6. MDEA, 
7. NAUI, 
8. PDIC, 
9. SSI, 
10. SAA (INSTR. Grade 2 or higher) or
11. YMCA
12. Be at least 18 years old.
13. Be fit for diving and submit a Medical Statement for a diving medical examination conducted within the past 12 months.
14. Be a certified diver for 6 months and have completed and logged 100 dives by the IE and have documentation of experience in deep, night, and navigation diving.
15. Proof of CPR and first aid training within the last 24 months.
16. Submit documentation of any equivalent certification for entry-level, advanced, rescue and leadership-level issued by another recreational diving agency.
17. If not a PADI Divemaster, successfully complete the PADI Divemaster course rescue skills assessment.
