Streaming LIVE - Coral Reef Webcam

If you are landlocked, locked-down and ready for some much needed reef relief.... sit back and enjoy our new live feed from the shallow reef cam, located on the East End of Grand Cayman.

We've done this before, but this time we are streaming direct to our own YouTube page.  We've upgraded our charge controller and solar wiring - so we're crossing fingers for more reliability.

The underwater webcam is located at a shallow coral reef snorkel site, named South Channel Gardens. This is only a short 5 minute boat ride from Ocean Frontiers' dock.  The camera is tethered to a small platorm that is moored nearby and holds the solar panels (5), battery system, controllers and a wifi directional antenna to send the video feed back to shore.

The video viewing is set in tour mode. So it will follow a path around and stop at different places.  When you are just looking into the blue, it may be just lots of blue- but once in a while a big Eagle Ray will cruise by... so keep watching and waiting.  We often see turtles, sharks, rays, as well as all the cool smaller marine life.

We'd love to see more cameras on our reefs to be able to monitor events such as coral spawning and so we can bring the underwater world in to the classroom.

The design and installation is by our good friends at 'View into the Blue', who are based in Colorado, USA.  With the expertise of Trevor and his team, you would not be viewing a coral reef in real time from either thousands of miles away or just down the street.
